Our Location Acton Town has a great choice of local restaurants, cafes and pubs.
Acton is a district of west London and one of London's vibrant cultural centres. Acton means "oak farm" or "farm by oak trees", and comes from the Anglo-Saxon 'ac' (oak) and 'tun' (farm). Acton was originally an ancient village surrounded by forests and fields, and nowadays is a town mainly in the London Borough of Ealing (although some of East Acton lies within the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, and a small portion of South Acton within the London Borough of Hounslow).
Did you know Acton is home to more railway stations than any other area of London - seven stations in the area feature 'Acton' in their name. Also the first Waitrose opened in Acton in 1904 on Acton Hill, and was originally called "Waite, Rose and Taylor".
There is a Saturday Market, friendly shops browse, traditional pubs to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy a well earned pint, and many parks and green spaces in Acton. Acton's oldest building is The Elms, a 1700s villa that now houses part of Twyford CE High School.
